Staff Review - Bruce

On my last trip to Tasmanian’s Central Plateau I was only on a formed trail for 6km. The next 4 days were spent scrub bashing across the frontier from one Tarn to another and over several mountain lookouts. Since the last bushfires in this area there has been a rapid recovery of thickets in most gullies which presents issues with seeing foot placement, hiking pants protection as well as my protection from tiger snakes and cuts. I had no hesitation crushing my way through wearing my Overland Gaiters as they allowed me to force my way through the thickets without injury, just the occasional fall. The full shin length was useful, but the nylon material construction did work up a sweaty lower leg which could be an issue if colder temperatures were encountered. I would recommend sizing to calf size rather than the shoe size as I would be medium/large not an XL which is a little loose fitting when not using long pants and the front attachment hook would come loose sometimes.
