SIZING Measure your dog paw's width as in the image below. Please note: set of TWO boots (NOT four). Many dogs have wider front paws than rear paws. Make sure to measure both front and hind paws to purchase the appropriate sets.

Not suitable for dog with mobility issues Lizzy, 29 August 2025 Unfortunately, these boots didn’t work for my 12-year-old Border Collie. She has arthritis and struggles to get up on our floorboards, often dragging the inside of her front feet. When we tried the boots at home, she kept tripping and even fell, which also happened during our walk. I was worried she might twist or injure her leg, so we had to discontinue using them. They also slipped off fairly quickly, even though we measured carefully and tightened them (to the point they looked a little uncomfortable). Ruffwear promotes Grip Trex as providing traction and protection for active dogs to protect their paws from extreme environments and rough terrain, which sounds good in theory for arthritic dogs, though they can be too stiff or bulky for older arthritis dogs with paw-dragging issues. If you're still looking for solutions, you might find Ruffwear’s Hi & Light Trail boots a better fit, they’re lighter and more flexible. However, please note they are not corrective devices and will not address paw-dragging or knuckling directly. Hope your Border Collie finds something that works comfortably!
