Maurten GEL 100 CAF 100 uses natural hydrogel technology and packs a high weight to energy ratio, with 100mg of caffeine plus 25g of carbohydrates. Caffeine has been shown to increase alertness and reduce perceived effort, which is why Maurten fans all over the world are selling out the CAF 100 version.

From a technical perspective, traditional gels are water and carbohydrates simply mixed into syrups, often containing added flavours and preservatives. The GEL 100 CAF 100 is completely different: a biopolymer matrix, filled with a unique blend of fructose and glucose (ratio of 0.8:1) which enables uptakes of up to 100 grams of carbohydrates per hour.

GEL 100 CAF 100 features:

100mg of caffeine – the equivalent of 1.5 espressos or one cup of brewed coffee (that's a lot, compared to many of the traditional gels out there)
60% carbohydrates – the most efficient energy source around, using the recent 0.8:1 fructose to glucose ratio to enable uptake of up to 100 grams per hour, with one serving containins 25 grams of carbohydrates
Natural, patent-pending hydrogel technology that enables smooth transportation of the carbohydrates through the stomach to the intestine, where the water, salt and carbohydrates are absorbed. The pH-sensitive hydrogel is made from two dietary fibers: alginate and pectin, both popular within the food industry
