Endura Sports Energy Gels are a concentrated energy source, containing a combination of two specialised forms of carbohydrates to increase total carb absorption from 60g to 90g an hour.

The Endura Sports Energy Gel features:

26 grams of carbohydrates per serve
Dual acting carbohydrates: immediate impact (branched chain glucose polymers) and slow-release (microcrystalline fructose)
8.5 mg caffeine to boost energy, focus and concentration
Gluten-free ingredients.

DIRECTIONS
For best results, consume one 35 g serve (one sachet, 11/3 tablespoons or 26.4 mL):

Before exercise: 15 minutes prior to exercise.
During exercise: Every 30 minutes with fluid to prevent glycogen depletion and energy loss.
After exercise: Directly after exercise to aid recovery.

For each gel consumed, look at drinking around 250-300 ml of water (an isotonic solution*) for the best absorption. Some people may find drinking so much water in one hit difficult. If this is the case, take the gel over 10- 20 minutes and have small sips with every portion, to reach around 250-300 ml in total.

As a distance runner, I have tried a wide variety of different methods of fuelling during my long runs, especially when they start stretching out. I had been recommended these gels as something to try and one day I just decided to give it a try. I took the vanilla flavoured gels out on one of my long runs, and took one just after halfway through my run. They were quite sweet, but hit the spot in terms of a sweet tooth like me. After about 3-4km the gel started to kick in and it was just the energy boost I needed to stay fresh and even pick up the pace at the end of my long run.
